Following is an excerpt from a project at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, focused on social and economic development in Asia. It was written by the Muhammed E. Ali, Director of Education, Information, and Statistics at the Ministry of Education. The paper is called, "Training/Upgrading Skills of Information Users in Bangladesh."Effective training of information users is indispensable to productivity. Most people responsible for developing and installing new systems are so concerned with the technology that they rarely consider how it is affecting the end user. Often inadequate training of users on high technology applications only serves to perpetuate the problem it has set out to solve (2).This is the same thought that American University teachers express in the class rooms. I think its interesting to notice that despite the low concentration of computers, technology, and schools, the information technology people of Bangladesh still have the same views on the current IT issues.

Bangladesh's labor force consists of approximately 50.1 million men and women. 21% of those people work in the services industry. There is an extensive 'brain drain' in that many people later move to Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman (Probably for religious reasons). However, it is not clear what percentage of those people are in the IT fields (6).
